Maternity Fashion: How to Dress for Pregnancy

Hello My Loves

It can be hard for pregnant ladies to know how to style their bump. I know that I had to take a good hard look at my wardrobe as soon as my bump started showing and certain clothes went to the back of the closet that will be worn after baby has been born, as they just don't suit a bump.

Other clothing items have been great for maternity wear, even though they are not actual maternity clothing! I am lucky in that I have been able to still wear a lot of my dresses to work and for events.  I find a lot of maternity clothes can be frumpy and there seems to be lots of heavy floral prints for some reason, which are not really my style and do not suit me.  So I have been trying to get the most out of wearing my normal clothing.

Dresses have been amazing for me because I find they give me more room to grow and are comfy whenever a hot flash comes on! I have ripped maternity jeans and converse that I might throw on at the weekend, but I have been mainly living in dresses.

I want to share three of my favourite maternity looks with you, in case you are facing any bump styling dilemma's.

1. Wrap Dresses
Wrap dresses are amazing as maternity wear! The wrap part of the dress gives you freedom of movement with the bump and allows for growth.  They are so flattering for any figure shape.

Dress: Virgo's Lounge.  This exact dress is sold out online, but you can buy a similar style here and here
Shoes: Dune.  You can get similar ones here and here

2. Shift Dresses
Shift dresses have been my go to look throughout pregnancy.  I find they are tailored, so I do not look frumpy in anyway.  They show the bump without being too skin tight for me.  They also allow room for your bump to grow. Wedges are a great shoe for pregnancy. If like me, you like a little height, the wide base of the wedge is easier to walk on as your center of gravity increases.

Dress: River Island.  This dress is sold out but I have found a similar style here and here
Shoes: Jimmy Choo Wedges.  These shoes were a big splurge for me, but more economical alternatives are here and here

3. Swing Dresses
Similar to shift dresses, these are loose and comfy.  They are not restrictive to my bump in any way and there is lots of room to grow.  These gladiator sandals are a funky way to wear flats, which are essential to stop  me from toppling over the bigger my bump gets!

Dress: River Island.  Buy similar here and here
Gladiator Sandals: Topshop. Available here
Necklace: Zara, available to buy here

I hope you like my maternity looks. Are there any maternity looks you recommend?

Love, Mini

  3. You are a gorgeous mama to be and your sense of fashion is just stunning! I had problems dressing up with both my pregnancy, I was very tiny and when I was about to pop, I was looking like I was only 7 months pregnant so I wore normal clothes throughout because maternity wear was just too big for me to fit in. LOL!

  12. I love all the dresses you chose, especially that first one - looks vintage inspired! I think dark colors hide larger areas pretty well (For me that would be my constant post meal food baby - I'm not pregnant haha) And the shoes in the last look are so far out! I don't see a lot of pregnant women rocking such cool kicks!

  14. Aww.. you look awesome, hun..
I honestly find it hard to dress up cos I still want to wear my sexy pre-pregnancy clothes lol, so some of my maternity dress that was given to me, was making me feel bulky hihi..
It's just annoying I cant wear those clothes anymore because my bump looks too big for me now that I'm on my 32 weeks
